“We are the creative force of our life and through our own decisions rather than our conditions, if we CAREFULLY learn to do certain things, we fulfil our purpose, achieve our dreams and ultimately lead a happy life”.
About 2 weeks ago, I recieved an inbox message from someone who needed me to work on a certain project with him. I told him that he’ld need to pay for consultation so I get a proper brief of what exactly he wants. I connected him with my manager who explained how we operate and all; he spent a lot of time asking why he should pay what he was asked to pay, we explained and explained and after about three days of going back and forth, I asked my manager to “free him”….he obviously hadn’t made up his mind before taking the step of contacting me.
A couple also came to me once and wanted to buy something that I was selling; they negotiated, I gave them discounts, they even wrote a memo on their payment plan and signed, only for them to send me a message 24 hours later to say they changed their mind. They had not thought it through before coming to me.
A lady came to me once and told me that she didn’t like her 9 – 5 job anymore and wanted to leave but didn’t have the courage to. I told her to do a SWOT analysis of her current state and make a decision; she did and told me that it was not a right time to leave the job. She stayed put and just two weeks after, she was sacked!
So many instances like this, I have heard and seen….and made me conclude that, in life, we need to by ourselves decide whether we want to “PLAY IT SAFE” or “TAKE A CHANCE” – the choice is ours to make. Your coach, mentor, parent, teacher can only guide….the choice is ULTIMATELY yours to make. If you involve these people before taking a stand, possibility is that you will make a grave mistake because they have their own perception of the representation of YOUR own problem and this will always interfere in decision making. I will rather mentor a young woman who has personal goals, body goals, marriage goals, child upbringing goals, career goals
….than someone who says that….i should tell them what to do.
So please answer these two questions honestly;
WOULD YOU RATHER BE TOLD WHAT TO DO OR ASKED WHAT TO DO?
WOULD YOU RATHER BE TOLD WHAT TO THINK OR ASKED WHAT TO THINK?
